The Chinese Shar Pei is from the beginning used for the jaught and for catching intruders.
How old the Shar Pei is? Nobody knows it exactly, but there are images seen on very old paintings and other objects, and they show the Shar Pei about 200 before Chr.

In the early 1960's the Shar Pei, was about to die out., due to the fact that there were lots of food shortage, and the dogtax rises to high.
That was no good for lots of the Chinese citizens, so many Shar Pei's were cooked for their meal.
Also, the Chinese law announced that things of no use, must been murdered. The Shar Pei was also used for fightings between dogs, the Shar Pei is a very social dog, and he wouldnt attach other dogs, so the Shar Pei's were fed with Drugs, and Alcohol. De Chinese; Matgo Law, sent a letter to the American magazine , lots of people saw the letter and and some people decided to react to save the Shar Pei. Many months later, China received lots of requests for Shar Pei, and slowly the Shar Pei breeding started in America.
